The idea of the xDrive exhibit is to create a realistic impression of a high dynamic drive on a display to explain BMW’s xDrive Technology.
We achieved this goal by bringing together two contrary and usually independent movements – The animated route on the display and the robot moving a car on that animation. Notably are the smooth movements of the robot.
The user can choose a particular xDrive model for the demonstration. An additional slow-motion mode substantiates the user experience by explaining in which situation which axis gets which amount of force.
To intensify the user involvement we added a randomly appearing Button, so the user can “scare” the robot by sliding a massive sign into his stage. Watch the video to see his reaction.
The BMW Experience Exhibits projects was awarded the Red Dot Design Grand Prix 2012
