After a concept by and in collaboration with exhibition architects echo ))) kommunikation im raum and communications agency mainfeld, MESO Digital Interiors designed and developed this interactive table.

Visitors to the fair learn facts & figures about the current energy debate by playing with a little universe of abstract glowing objects, which pop up at the flick of a finger.

Tracking the visitors’ gestures with a robust and effective infrared tracking system, the table offers room for up to eight simultaneous users.
Due to the nature of the optical tracking system from above, interaction works without the visitors even touching the surface – just a wave of the hand is enough to trigger the text infos and visual effects.

Visuals are intensified by the light of 1000 individually addressed RGB-LEDs mounted below the ceiling of the room – sending out very satisfying dynamic bursts of color after each chapter that a user has read. ‘’The room is filled with energy.’’ In idle time, lights oscillate softly like a breathing organism.

Great care was given to an elegant integration of the optical system and lighting, hiding all of the cameras, projectors and light fixtures to have just minimal optical impact on the exhibition architecture. The scene is lit by invisible infrared light through unobtrusive white glass panes in the ceiling.

The projection is designed to be of very high quality, with two state-of-the-art projectors – a total 14000 ANSI Lumens on an area of 350×130cm, yielding a cinema-grade resolution of nearly 3 Megapixels – each calculated in real time at 60 frames per second by a single PC. Hardware supplied by our favorite AV professionals Satis & Fy.

The bespoke software for the project – tracking and visualisation – was designed & developed entirely by MESO Digital Interiors using 100% pure VVVV.
